An Introduction to Me
Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Angifer Rojas but everyone sticks with Angie (its easy).
I'm proud to be a Peruvian and have had a passion for art since as early as I can remember. I’m currently in my fourth year at NJCU University and recently switched my major from Illustration to Graphic Design. My interests are drawing, painting, ceramics, paleontology, horror, science fiction, graphic design and packaging, and illustration.
I'm taking this class as a requirement, but the topic of politics and schooling did peak my interest. I took a couple of classes on urban education in my previous semesters. My father recalls how I learned to fold drawings and words of paper into a comic/ booklet at around the age of 5. My earliest experience of becoming literate would have to be when I first started receiving speech therapy around preschool-pre K. In my earlier grade years, it seemed frustrating to not be on the same level as everyone else. However with enough encouragement from teachers and friends, it made me want to work harder, to a point where I earned high grades and earned a presidential scholarship.
Going through that journey will always be a reminder that the way you start out doesn’t solidify how things will end. Books were a huge help for me at the time, I thank my parents for making it a habit to go to the library with me as often as they could. Growing up reading fascinating stories from the popular children’s book authors, it really made me appreciate fantasy books and inspired me to get into book publishing. As of today, I’m optimistic in the path I’m on and hope that my future internships take me closer to my goal in being part of the marketing or book packaging team in a book publishing company.
